Past Events

	The DAR Art Benefit – New York, NY May 17th, 2013 We featured seven artists including photographers, illustrators and songwriters at our DAR Art Benefit at the Liederkranz on the Upper East Side. Our guests took part in a silent auction and bid on work by each of our artists. We had a singer/songwriter who performed his own music and even performed a song he wrote for The DAR Project. Our guests were part of our raffle where we auctioned off DAR merchandise and Riesling wine. We raised enough money to send three more orphans in Tanzania to college in the upcoming school year. Thank you to everyone who came out to support our cause! We can’t wait to see you at our next event!
	The Inaugural DAR 5K- Liverpool, NY April 14th, 2013 Our first 5K sold out to 300 runners – we had almost 50 volunteers come out to help us during the event as well. Runners raced at Onondaga Lake Parkway in Central New York. After running through the finish line arch, racers were invited to our finishers’ party and to get a massage. We were able to raise funds to send five more orphans in Tanzania to college. Thank you to each of our sponsors and DAR 5K participants! See you in 2014! www.daraces.org
	Zaza's Benefit Night- Scarsdale, NY January 30th, 2013 Thank you to everyone who came out to support The DAR Project at Zaza's! It was a great event! A huge thank you goes out to all of our supporters who made this possible including Zaza's Italian Restaurant, the Andrew Lecoche Band, and all of our donors. We could not do what we do without each of you! We raised enough to send another student to college in the 2012-2013 school year. Asante sane!
	Christmas Workcamp- Dar Es Salaam and Kilimanjaro, Tanzania December 25th, 2012 to January 1st, 2013 Over Christmas, we visited the Chamazi Orphanage in Dar Es Salaam, Tanzania and the Kiwakico Orphanage in Kilimanjaro, Tanzania. We delivered clothes and presents to over 150 orphans. We also met the 5 college students we sponsored who are currently in college in Tanzania. It was an amazing time. We also began filming for our documentary that comes out this summer while in Tanzania. We are very excited about this project and to share it with all of you.
	Kokomo's Benefit Night- Syracuse, NY June 30th, 2012 What an awesome benefit! Thank you to everyone who came out to Kokomo's for the DAR Benefit Night Syracuse and donated! The band, food and atmosphere was amazing! We are so thankful we have so many fantastic supporters! We had lots of fun and cannot wait until our next event. Thus far, we have raised funds for five college scholarships for the upcoming school year! Thank you for your support and for believing in The DAR Project!
	Chamazi Orphanage Clothing Reception and Party- Dar Es Salaam, Tanzania May 2nd, 2012 We are very excited to announce our shipment of donated clothes has arrived in Dar at our partner orphanage! The 100 children who live at the Chamazi Orphanage, which is located an hour outside of the Dar Es Salaam city center, were so thankful when our boxes arrived. They had a celebration at the orphanage when the clothes arrived. Thank you all for making this possible! We could not have sent so many clothes without your support!
	Dinosaur BBQ Benefit Night- NYC April 26th, 2012 Thank you to everyone who came out to Dinosaur BBQ in Harlem last night for awesome music, food and company! You guys are amazing! We had ten raffle winners who won prizes including a Reiki treatment, a Dinosaur BBQ gift certificate and DAR t-shirts. We are very glad that you were all able to come out and celebrate with us. It was great to meet more of our supporters in the NYC area. We appreciate your support and cannot wait until our next
	Spring Clothing Drive- Syracuse University, Syracuse, NY April 5th and 6th, 2012 The SU Spring Clothing Drive for The DAR Project took place on the quad in front of Hendricks Chapel. It was great seeing so many of our supporters on the SU campus. Thank you to faculty, staff, students and community members from the Syracuse area for bringing so many clothes for our friends in Tanzania. We will be shipping these items to our orphanage this month.
	Spring Clothing Drive- Columbia University, NYC April 2nd and 3rd, 2012 Our Columbia Spring Clothing Drive for The DAR Project took place on the first floor of Zankel Hall, Teachers College. Thank you to all students, faculty and Columbia University supporters for bringing out mounds and mounds of clothing for our friends at the Chamazi Orphanage in Tanzania.
